Within Mother Earth futureFERNS you can decide what level of responsibility you wish to undertake.

Year 1 & 2

If you are experienced and feel confident, a Junior Co-ordinator role would be ideal. As the Junior Co-ordinator, you would manage the implementation of game day, leading the warm-up, run skill development activities, support the players during game time and ensure the players cool down.  Assisting Junior Co-ordinators are the Star Helpers. The Star Helpers role is ideal for those who are keen to help out but are happy to be guided through game day working with a small number of players during activity time. Another option is the Game Day Helper who helps out if needed during the skill sessions or holds a hula hoop during game time.

Coach workshops are provided for both of these roles.

NNZ strongly encourages all coaches and helpers to attend FREE Mother Earth futureFERNS Year 1 - 4 workshops. The workshops are two hours or less, are practical and encourage coaches to develop practices that are FUN.

Year 3 & 4

The focus for this age group is on learning basic Netball skills. Each week, one skill is the focus on game day with the skill further developed at the next the practice. On game day, a Junior Co-ordinator leads the skill development, reinforcing the key coaching points to develop the skill. The coaches assist the Junior Co-ordinator during skill development and are the on court support during game time, providing assistance to both teams in their teams attacking end.
